Trevor has finally gotten the knack of

Trevor helped us rake leaves on Saturday. It was also a chance to sport his winter coat, hat, and mittens.

Trevor has decided that he, along with Todd, is responsible for loading the dishwasher each night (although I use the term "loading" quite loosely in Trevor's case!) We hadn't realized that Trevor could climb into the dishwasher until he surprised us in this picture moment.

So, Trevor has decided that, at 13 months, it is time to start walking. His upper-body is really good at balancing, but his legs are still a bit wobbly. He puts out his arms "mummy style" to steady himself. Needless to say, he is cute as a button as barrels across the room.

orchard

Last Saturday, Trevor and I went to Crane's Orchard with Oma, Papa Tom, and Uncle Bud. Trevor had a great time riding in the apple cart. He was rather sneaky and kept taking apples out the bags and piling them in his lap under the blanket. When we went to buy the apples, we found an additional 10-12 apples that he had been storing.
After picking apples, we went to
the restaurant part of the orchard
for a yummy lunch.

picnic

Today we had a picnic in the park because it was 85 degrees on October 1st! We had California rolls (we made them as they are hard to come by in Quincy) while Trevor feasted on fruit and grilled "cheese" (he's lactose intolerant and eats fake cheese). After lunch, Trevor hit the swings and the Toddler playground. Penny entertained herself by barking at the park's many squirrel residents.

Army, and Trev has been having a
great time with it ever since. It is supposed to be an outdoor
toy, but Todd brought it in when
I was gone :) Trevor likes getting in and out the side door; he hasn't quite figured out how to drive it with his feet.

birthday boy

Yesterday was Trevor's first birthday and we had a "rubber ducky" party for six of his friends and their parents. We ate lunch,
played with toys, ate cake, and
opened presents. He didn't take a morning nap because of all the excitement and so crashed on the couch with me shortly after the party ended.

Trevor's new thing is to dig through our used paper bin.

Trevor carried this scrap of fabric for week. We had to throw it away after Penny took an interest in it and made it dog-breath stinky.

Oma bought a vintage play pen in hopes that it would keep Trevor safe and give me a bit of freedom. . . . right!

story time

Oma and Papa T came for a visit last weekend. Trevor had fun showing them his house and having story-time in his bedroom. He read Teletubbies (embarassing choice of characters - but he loves them!) with Oma and the Hungry Caterpillar with Papa T.

i'm a boy

Trevor has a onesie that proclaims, "I'M A BOY." He certainly is with his constant sound effects, his need to bang metal objects, and his continual need for motion (ie. climbing on everything!) And check out that smirk :) I'm pretty sure that wrinkled nose look comes from me.

sippy cups

Trevor has become very adept at drinking out of sippy cups. Here is he handling two at once. If only he would stop throwing them on the floor when he is finished!

biking, kayaking, swimming, and so much more

Last week, Trevor and I went to Michigan to visit Oma, Pa, Uncle Bud, and Aunt E. Trevor had a great time biking, kayaking, swimming, going out for coffee (or in his case, mowing down carrot cake at JPs), going on walks with Oma, playing with his cousins: Jordi Luke and Caden, going out for lunch, and attending his cousin Angela's wedding. All in all it was a fun-filled week with a lot of memorable firsts....biking, kayaking, walking on sand at the beach, and going under water in the pool.

pineapple bum

Trevor has taken to sleep on his belly with his bum up in the air (apparantly Todd's brother, Troy, used to also sleep like this). We were putting him in a T-shirt and his cloth diaper at night (because of the hot weather); however, we discovered one morning that he had learned to unvelcro his diaper cover! oops! Now he wears shorts with his T-shirt :)

mr. fourth of july

On the fourth of July, we went to a barbeque where Trevor enjoyed the good eats and the swing. Later, we went to the fireworks .... he was crabbers until the fireworks started (which he loved!). In the picture of the fireworks, you can make out the back of his head in the carseat that doubled as a recliner.

Trevor prefers feeding himself over being spoon fed - granted, half of it goes to our dog Penny (but she has yet to complain). Here he is munching on bits of a pumpkin muffin and peas.

Trev is taking swimming lessons at the local YMCA. Tuesday was his first lesson, and it mostly consisted of moving to the groove of nursery rhymes and playing with toys. He really likes the water, but the pool was loud and overstimulating - so he was shell-shocked for most of the lesson. I did manage to capture this grin.

We love spending time on the front porch swing. Sometimes Trevor sits on our lap, but other times, he sits beside us and holds on to the armrest. Here are three priceless expressions...wry, jolly, and "say what?"

father's day

Todd, oops I mean Trevor, is learning how to crawl. He can do the combat crawl to get something that he really wants. The close-up picture is of him crawling to get the camera. Todd is so proud to be a dad and to celebrate his first Father's day. People comment how Trevor looks more and more like Todd as he grows older.

memorial day

Trevor celebrated memorial day by attending a patriotic concert in the park with Grandpa and Grandma (Nelson). The weather was very hot, and Trevor found refuge from the sun beneath the shade of the chair. While listening to the music, he enjoyed the view of the Mississippi River.
